Our Origin

The work began with a production that ran out of budget

FilmDrafts did not begin as a branding exercise. It grew from an expensive production lesson and the decision to understand the planning work that should happen before a camera rolls.

01

A first-hand lesson in 2019

Muzamil and Bilal were trying to produce their own feature film. After only a few days of shooting, the available production budget was exhausted. The experience made the importance of development, budgeting, scheduling and production planning impossible to ignore.

02

Learning the planning work

They began studying and improving film development packages, budgeting, scheduling and production planning through courses and real client projects. Each assignment became an opportunity to refine the connection between a screenplay, a practical schedule and a workable financial plan.

03

Growing through Fiverr and Upwork

To support their expenses while continuing to work in film, the founders began selling services on Fiverr and later Upwork. Across the founders and wider team, multiple Fiverr accounts were operated, with two reaching Top Rated status. Repeat clients, referrals and long-term producer relationships followed.

04

Building an independent platform

One of the team's Top Rated Fiverr accounts was later closed. The experience reinforced the founders' decision to reduce dependence on third-party marketplaces and grow FilmDrafts as a direct and independent client platform.

05

What the work represents today

Since 2019, FilmDrafts has supported more than 200 clients. The budgets, financial models, schedules and production-planning materials developed across those engagements represent more than $300 million in combined production value. Some supported projects have completed production and reached audiences, while many client engagements remain private and confidential.
